Seaside Paranoia is a 2D murder mystery visual novel Seaside Paranoia, you take on the role of Marco, who investigates a murder that took place in the tiny town of Seaside. I was responsible acting as narrative consultant and the UI designer with animations in Engine bringing my experience in Photoshop, illustration and Unity. After working on this project for three months during the summer, we were able to present at the Gameheads Expo and take home the Best Narrative Design prize.
UI design
Created the composition splash screen for the start menu of the game.
Different mock up versions of dialog box choices for branching narrative options playing with the theme of the main protagonist's hobby of using photos and sketches into the ui style to make them appear worn and old.
Created evidence board, clue items and post-its for the mini game players use to piece together clues for the outcome of different endings.
Mock ups of evidence clues meant to be kept in journal for the player to refer back too.
For the dialog box I implemented unconventional stop motion with real notebook with a green screen and photoshop for the animation.
Journal flip animation for the pause menu on screen logging evidence.
Loading icon for screen transition.
Hint indicator for mouse cursor for environmental gameplay on screen gathering clues.
Different versions of missing persons posters in game looking for evidence created in photoshop.
Splash menu buttons made in Photoshop with filters to create a paper effect.
