"Te Amo Mamá" is an interactive exploration of motherhood, one of the most complex and underrepresented experiences in contemporary media. As the lead artist on this project, I collaborated closely with a small team of game developers to bring this vision to life. Drawing on my background in concept art and animation, I created a unique visual style that blends evocative line drawings with bright, expressive colors and lush environments. My goal was to create a world that feels both familiar and surreal, where players are invited to immerse themselves in a mother hen's journey to protect and guide her chick back to the flock.
Through my work on "Te Amo Mamá," I aimed to challenge existing tropes and narratives surrounding motherhood in games and media. I saw an opportunity to create a more nuanced and complex portrayal of this often misunderstood experience, one that recognizes the joys, frustrations, and fears that come with being a mother. Drawing on a range of digital tools, including Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, and Illustrator, I experimented with different visual storytelling techniques, from character design to environmental art to particle effects.
Since its release, "Te Amo Mamá" has received enthusiastic response from players who have appreciated its unique blend of gameplay and visual art. As an artist and game developer, I believe that it is crucial to continue exploring new ways of telling stories and creating immersive experiences that challenge our assumptions and expand our empathy.
